There are plenty of activities to do in Cumming. Lake Lanier is nearby with plenty of activities to partake in, including boating, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, and plenty of hiking trails, as well as special events throughout the year. Hikers will especially love the nearby Sawnee Mountain Preserve, which contains 963 acres of hiking trails where you can catch views of the local wildlife while getting into some exercise. While there, don't miss the Indian Seats, a natural rock formation where you can find abandoned gold mines and amazing views. Other popular hiking spots include the Big Creek Greenway and Fowler Park Trailhead, both offering amazing views as you walk. The truly adventurous can even start their journey on the Appalachian Trail, running from the Southern Terminus just north of Cumming and continuing for nearly 2200 miles to Maine.
Cummings is served by the Forsyth County School System, the 6th largest in Georgia, and is a leader in instructional technology.
